Born in Cleveland, Ohio, James McHale, M.D. graduated cum laude from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio in 1995. His medical degree is from The Ohio State University. There he served as President of Student Council and graduated with the highest honors. He completed his ophthalmology residency at The Ohio State University Hospitals and joined Columbus Ophthalmology Associates in August of 2004.
Dr. McHale is Chairman for the Department of Ophthalmology at Mount Carmel West Hospital and is also a part-time faculty staff member for the Department of Ophthalmology at The Ohio State University. He teaches medical students, residents and optometrists at The Ohio State University and Columbus Ophthalmology Associates.
As the father of three beautiful children, Dr. McHale is quite busy out of the office. Some of his favorite pastimes are going to father-daughter dances, coaching soccer teams and backyard camping with his kids. He enjoys playing golf in the warm months and skiing in the cold. More than anything, he enjoys spending time with his wife, family and friends.
