My LASIK Journey as a Patient and Columbus LASIK Surgeon

September 2, 2014

I have the great privilege of performing LASIK surgery on my patients. It’s both gratifying and amazing to watch their vision change virtually overnight. The look of appreciation on a patient’s face when they realize they can see incredibly well without glasses or contacts for the first time is priceless and one I never tire of. My position as a Columbus LASIK surgeon is unique because I’ve been on the other side of the lens–I truly understand what each patient is going through.

Ten years ago, I underwent LASIK surgery during medical school. Due to my eye allergies and mild dry eye, I had a very difficult time tolerating contact lenses for an extended period of time. Contacts and glasses were just not conducive to my busy and active lifestyle and I was looking for a way to be free of them. LASIK was the answer. Over a decade later, I enjoy my 20/20 vision and consider LASIK surgery the best investment I have ever made.

While I do enjoy performing cataract surgery and corneal transplants, there is a special bond I share with the LASIK patients in my care because I have been where they are: frustrated by poor eyesight, tired of glasses or contacts but unable to function without them. LASIK changed my life and it’s a pleasure to perform this life-altering procedure for my Columbus Ophthalmology Associates’ LASIK patients.
