Low Vision Services
What is Low Vision?
Low Vision is a term used to describe a permanent loss of vision, which is not correctable with conventional spectacle prescriptions, contact lenses, surgery or medications. The vision loss is usually due to adult onset eye diseases such as the following:
- Macular Degeneration
- Glaucoma
- Diabetic Retinopathy
- Cataracts
- Retinitis Pigmentosa
These eye diseases will cause a loss of acuity (ability to see detail) preventing low vision individuals from performing the tasks they have always been able to do.
Our Goal
Our goal is to maximize the remaining vision for a person with low vision. This is possible by utilizing the latest technology of optical aids (such as prescriptive magnifiers and telescopic lenses) and non-optical aids (such as filters, reading slits, lamps and large print).
Call (614) 526-6200 or (800) 348-2006 for a free low vision rehabilitation packet and to schedule an appointment.
